This full-time opportunity offers a balanced hybrid inpatient and outpatient general surgery role, combining clinic-based patient care with inpatient responsibilities and operating room assistance. The APP will join an established, collaborative team consisting of two physicians and one APP, offering the opportunity to build surgical experience while working alongside physicians with deep experience serving the Lincoln community.
Position Highlights
- Full-time, 1.0 FTE
- Monday-Friday schedule with no nights, weekends, or call
Hybrid Inpatient/outpatient General Surgery Position
- Typical schedule includes approximately: 3 days of outpatient clinic 2 days of inpatient care/OR assistance
- Outpatient clinic hours are generally 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
- Inpatient/OR days may begin at approximately 7:00 AM
- Assist physicians in the operating room
- Perform appropriate in-office procedures, including port removals
- Collaborative practice environment with two physicians and one APP
- No academic or protected research responsibilities
What You’ll Do
The APP will support the General Surgery team across the continuum of inpatient and outpatient care. Responsibilities will include managing patients in the clinic, supporting hospitalized surgical patients, assisting physicians in the operating room, and performing appropriate office-based procedures.
This position provides a varied workweek for an APP interested in maintaining both clinical and surgical responsibilities rather than working exclusively in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Appropriate board certification/training for the role
- Eligible for or currently holds North Carolina licensure
- Interested in a combination of outpatient general surgery, inpatient care, and operating room responsibilities
- Comfortable learning surgical first-assist responsibilities and office-based procedures
- Collaborative and interested in working closely with an established surgical team
- New graduates will be considered
