The Behavioral Health Technician provides direct patient care under supervision, developing rapport with patients and facilitating the therapeutic milieu by assisting with daily living tasks and documenting procedures. This role also involves maintaining a safe environment, constant patient surveillance, and managing patient behavior, including anticipating and diffusing aggressive situations.
Minimum qualifications require Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers, and preferred qualifications include CNA or EMT certification or post-high school education in social work, psychology, sociology, family studies, or a health sciences field. Experience working with psychiatric and/or chemically dependent patients is preferred.
