Job Description
This is a contract, on-site position offering a unique opportunity to provide essential surgical care in a community-focused healthcare environment. As a locum provider, you will step directly into a collaborative surgical practice, delivering high-quality patient care while enjoying the flexibility of a contract engagement.
In this role, you will work alongside experienced surgeons and healthcare professionals within the General Surgery department. Your responsibilities will encompass the full spectrum of surgical patient care, from preoperative assessment and intraoperative assistance to postoperative management and follow-up. The ideal candidate is a skilled, adaptable clinician who thrives in a dynamic medical setting and is committed to excellent patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative patient assessments and histories
- Assist surgeons during operative procedures as needed
- Provide postoperative care and management of surgical patients
- Perform minor surgical procedures and wound care management
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging studies
- Develop and implement patient treatment plans in collaboration with the surgical team
- Prescribe medications and therapies as appropriate for surgical care
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and recovery expectations
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR)
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in patient rounds and clinical meetings
- Adhere to all medical practice protocols, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines
Requirements
- Associate-level experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Current and unrestricted NP or PA license in the state of practice
- Board certification as an NP or PA
- Experience or strong clinical background in General Surgery
- Ability to work on-site in Tonasket on a contract basis
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Willingness to adapt to varying clinical schedules and patient needs
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-4:30p
No call required
Setting: Outpatient
Daily Volume: 6-11 patients
Support Staff: Physician and nurses
Must be board-certified or board-eligible
