This provider will support the Child's Voice Clinic and hospital consults. The call schedule is shared amongst 4 APPs with back-up support from providers. The clinic is open Monday-Friday 8 -5 pm. with one provider on consult each day. The consult service covers holidays and weekends as well.
Summary
The Pediatric Child Abuse Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care for children suspected of being victims of abuse or neglect. The NP works closely with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, law enforcement, and medical specialists to assess, document, and manage cases, ensuring child safety and well-being.
Job Description
Conduct thorough medical evaluations of children suspected of abuse or neglect, including physical exams and developmental assessments. Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as radiographs, forensic labs, and imaging studies relevant to abuse evaluation. Document findings meticulously to support medical, legal, and child protective proceedings. Collaborate with child protective services, law enforcement, and legal teams in case management. Provide medical treatment and referrals for physical and psychological care. Educate families and caregivers on prevention, safety, and support resources. Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and community outreach programs. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to legal and ethical standards related to child abuse cases. Engage in training and continuing education on child abuse recognition, management, and prevention. This position also provides on-call coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours.
Qualifications
Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. If Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.

Specialized training or certification in child abuse pediatrics or forensic nursing preferred.

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice. State Controlled Substance License (if required by State) National board certification as a Pediatric Primary Care (CPNP-PC) or (PPCNP-BC), Family (NP-C) or (FNP-BC) Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form. Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists
