Position Summary

The Therapist Community Based will provide effective therapy to children,
adolescents, families and/or individual adults in office, home/community and
school settings.  This role will work closely with the Program Supervisor. The
Therapist Community Based also assists with general quality assurance
responsibilities for program treatment services. This position will work in the
Intensive Family Service Program.

Essential Roles 

Clinical and Support 

* Provides individual and family therapy in a culturally sensitive manner with
adherence to professional Code of Ethics, as recommended by treatment
team.   

1. * Productivity is determined by Program Director; the supervisor monitors
caseload size to target desired productivity expectations.   

* * Number of sessions depends on need and program procedures; intervention or
treatment styles practiced are empirically supported in treatment research
literature and/or Therapist has had thorough training and supervision of
those techniques/interventions.  
* Assesses for the appropriate level of clinical care and refer as necessary. 

Quality Improvement

*  Works with supervisors and Directors in meeting quality assurance standards
for all components of treatment for the program.   
* Exemplifies the values of the program service model.  
* Completes all paperwork in a timely and professional manner.  
* Produces billable units that will meet the program’s requirements.

3. Communication 

* Keeps Program Supervisor up to date with all scheduling issues.  Keeps a
master schedule up to date. 
* Collaborates with the Family Resource Specialist during team level services
to maintain the case file, maintain regular contact with the referral source
and other partners. 
* Testifies in court, as requested.   

* Collaborates with consumer child (client), family and their natural support
system, internal and external stakeholders, program team members, supervisor,
organizational support staff, County Children and Youth Caseworkers and other
referral sources to coordinate services. 

4. Supervision   

* Receives supervision. 

* * Receives supervision from and actively communicates with supervisor on an
ongoing basis throughout the week by phone, email, written message and when
possible, in person regarding program matters. 

Leadership  

* Promotes interagency collaboration. 

Community Engagement 

* Knows community resources and makes appropriate referrals. 

Documentation  

* Provides documentation that is in compliance with program procedures
including but not limited to treatment plans, case notes, assessments,
summaries, etc.    
* Writes the closing summary of treatment as assigned.  
* Monitors and records client/family progress in progress notes and Family
Report Meetings as assigned. Completes all required paperwork meeting
established timeframes.  

Qualifications

Education/Credentials/Licensure

* Requires a bachelor’s degree in mental health counseling, psychology, social
work or related required. Master’s degree in mental health counseling,
psychology, social work or related preferred.  
* Requires a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to a
reliable vehicle.
* Requires a minimum of one (1) year working with children and/or adults and
families required. 
* Requires expertise in developmental and emotional needs of children and/or
adults and families. 
* Requires knowledge of community resources and referral procedures.  
* Clearances. State Police; FBI clearance; child abuse clearance; CPSL Mandated
Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training; any additional
background checks/clearances required by state governing bodies.

Working Conditions  

* Physical Demands.  Requires vision, speech, and hearing.  Position allows
employee to move about freely or sit at will when performing job duties.  
* Environmental Factors.  Requires extensive travel to client homes and
throughout the community.  Work is performed primarily in client homes, where
conditions may include tobacco smoke, domestic animals, household pests, mold
and other allergens, and other conditions common to domestic environments. 
* Working Hours.  Non-traditional hours as determined by the program.
