Job DetailsJob Location: Medina Regional Hospital 3100 Ave E - Hondo, TX 78861Position Type: PRNTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: DaysPOSITION PURPOSE: Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy program in hospital, institution, or community setting to facilitate development and rehabilitation of mentally, physically, or emotionally disabled persons. Possess the ability to comprehend and follow written or verbal instruction or directions. Adheres to MHS Standard precaution policy and procedure. Performs other duties as requested by supervisor. Work with supervisors, other department managers and medical staff in order to provide the best patient care possible.

Designs and constructs special equipment for individual and suggests adaptation of individual’s work-living environment. Requisitions supplies and equipment. Lays out materials for individual’s use and cleans and repairs tools at end of sessions. Conducts training programs or participates in training medical and nursing students and other workers in occupational therapy techniques and objectives. Maintains positive and effective relationships with other departments and the Medical Staff. Consults with physicians to resolve problems and to obtain and provide patient care input. Maintains open communication and problem solving atmosphere with other departments to achieve quality patient care. Any other job duty as allowed by licensure. Attends in-service training at the request of their Director, including hospital orientation and Annual Skills Fair. Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION: Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current license from State Board of Examiners for Occupational Therapy; BLS required within 30 days of hire. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, squat, push, stoop, and pull as needed especially in fulfilling job responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Plans and conducts occupational therapy programs to facilitate the rehabilitation of patients with physical, mental, or emotional disabilities. Coordinates with the rehabilitation team to design activities that promote patient independence and functional recovery.

Requirements

Requires a fifth-year college or university program certificate or equivalent experience, along with a current state license for occupational therapy. Candidates must also hold a BLS certification and be capable of performing physical tasks such as lifting over 50 pounds.
