POSITION SUMMARY

A Physical Therapist Assistant is an individual licensed by the Texas board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy services to patients in accordance with an established physician plan of care and in compliance with applicable licensre/certification requipremetns, the Texas State Practice Act, and Hunt Memorial Hospital District policies and procedures.   POSITION REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education: Must maintain continuing education requirements as defined by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Minimum Work Experience: No experience is required. Required Licenses/Certifications: Evidence of current licensure and CPR certification. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to meet minimum hiring standards. Preferred Qualification: None   JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan. 2. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct. 3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs. 4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program. 5. Complies with all HIPAA standards. 7. No unexcused absences/consistently works more than scheduled hours - 5; No unexcused absences and is willing to work more than schedule hours - 4; No unexcused absences and consistently works scheduled hours - 3; No more than 1 unexcused absence and no no call/no show - 2; More than 2 unexcused absences and/or more than two incidences of no call/no show - 1. 8. Works independently and demonstrates problem-solving skills. 9. Dresses professionally and in keeping with District dress code. 10. Complies with established deadlines and respons to requests in a timely manner. 11. Attention to detail and completes documentation according to established policies and procedures; avoids errors. 12. Maintains a working environment conducive to maxmimum staff work and productivity. 13. Implements treatment programs as directed by the physical therapist. 14. Assists in patient treatment according to physician orders and as directed by the physical therapist; seeks assistance with duties as needed. 15. Observes, documents, and reprots patient reaction and response to therapy. 16. Collaborates with physical therapist in developing treatment plans and short/long term goals. 17. Treats patients for purpose of relieving pain, developing/restoring functional capacity, and maintaining maximum performance. 18. Completes accurate and timely documentation. 19. Records treatment and observations on progress notes according to departmental guidelines. 20. Documents teaching and patient/family response to therapy. 21. Adjusts plan of care as indicated by the physical therapist. 22. Participates in discharge planning. 23. Confers with physician and staff as necessary; documents all pertinent informatio and recommendations. 24. Orients, instructs and directs work activities of Rehabilitation Aides. 25. Supervises care rendered by Rehabilitation Aide. 26. Provides comlete instructions for Rehabilitation Aide performing physical therapy procedures. 27. Maintains current knowledge of professional skills and takes advantage of opportunities for enhancement. 28. Maintains current knowledge of safety infection control, and deparmtental policies and procedures. 29. Attends ongoing continuing education prorams and inservices. 30. Attends staff meetings as requested. 31. Participates in performance improvement activities.
