Veterinarian - Medical Director

Salary: $140,000+ base with production and a Medical Director stipend. Generous sign-on packages available!

Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 7:30am-6:00pm (Closed Saturdays and Sundays, no on-call or late nights!)

Montpelier Veterinary Hospital is hiring a Medical Director to lead our three-doctor team. We will be expanding and modernizing our practice, and we are looking for a veterinarian who wants to lead that work.

If there is an area of medicine you want to build - rehabilitation, acupuncture, advanced dentistry, or something we have not thought of – we’re ready to invest in it with you.

You will have X-ray, ultrasound and an in-house laboratory today, a caseload that runs from wellness and dentistry through general surgery and senior medicine, a five-day week with no weekends, no on-call and no late nights - and a genuine say in how we practice tomorrow.

What We’RE Looking For

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or VMD degree from an accredited institution
• Valid veterinary license in the state of Virginia
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
• Interest in leadership, mentorship, and practice growth

About Our Practice

Montpelier Veterinary Hospital sits on Mountain Road in rural Hanover County, twenty-five minutes north of Richmond.

We handle the full range of what comes through the door - wellness and vaccines, diagnostics and imaging, spay and neuter, dental cleanings, general surgery, pain management, puppy and kitten care and senior medicine - along with boarding, grooming and an online pharmacy for the families who need us between visits.

We treat patients as if they were our own, which is most of what there is to say about how we practice.

Location

Montpelier is the rural end of Hanover County - about seven thousand people spread along Mountain Road, twenty-five minutes from downtown Richmond and twenty from Ashland.

The Federal Club’s Arnold Palmer course is here, the Montpelier Center for Arts and Education runs programs year-round, and Patrick Henry’s Scotchtown is just down the road.

Poor Farm Park has miles of trails, the Pamunkey and the North and South Anna rivers are all close for paddling and fishing, and Kings Dominion is twenty minutes north. Ashland is walkable with Amtrak service straight to Washington, and Richmond gives you the restaurants, the breweries and the James.
