Responsibilities
The Cardiology Department at Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Eau Claire is a growing and progressive practice. The practice currently consists of eleven general cardiologists, four interventional cardiologists, three electrophysiologists, two electrophysiology physician assistants and eleven general cardiology nurse practitioner/physician assistants.
The inpatient NP/PA cardiology role involves carrying the cardiology call pager overnight (off-site MD on back-up call), cross coverage for our cardiology hospital consult service as well as evaluating any new cardiology consults overnight.
The role of the general cardiology nurse practitioner or physician assistant includes providing comprehensive direct and indirect patient care to general cardiology patients across the continuum of care.
The position requires the ability to communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient's clinical condition; results of diagnostic studies; and patient symptomatology as appropriate. Our team-based care model requires strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate and work together as part of the team.
The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses provide for a basis for practice for the nurse practitioner. The National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants and American Academy of Physician Assistants provides guidelines for Physician Assistant practice.
During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question – Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.
