For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), UN Volunteers with at least twelve (12) months of continuous service in IOM, and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract.
Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.
Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Project Coordinator, the direct supervision of the Project Team Leader, Protection and in close coordination with the Facility Coordinator, Open Center; the incumbent will be based in the Open Center (OCAVRR) and support in the implementation of protection activities under the programme “The implementation of assisted voluntary returns including reintegration measures and operation of Open Center in the Prefecture of Attica for applicants of voluntary return (AVRR/OCAVRR)”.
Key Responsibilities
The psychologist will provide emotional support, psychological assessment, and short-term counseling to residents preparing for voluntary return at the shelter for AVRR applicants. They will assist individuals in coping with stress, trauma, and uncertainty related to migration and return, supporting informed decision-making and emotional stability during the AVRR process.
Requirements
A university degree in Psychology (Clinical or Counselling) is required, along with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience and mandatory registration with the Greek Psychological Association. Fluency in both English and Greek (oral and written) is essential for this role.
