Collaborating Physician (ER/Urgent Care)

Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: Legal Address - BATON ROUGE, LA, Position Type: PRN, Education Level: MD Medical Licensure, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Category: Health Care, Patient Plus Urgent Care is seeking an experienced and compassionate Collaborating Physician to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced urgent care environment.

The Medical Doctor is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of acute illnesses and injuries while ensuring safe, efficient, and professional care.

In addition to direct patient care, this position serves as a collaborating physician for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs).

The physician will provide clinical guidance, consultation, and support to advanced practice providers, assist with complex clinical decision-making when needed, and help ensure care is delivered in accordance with established clinical standards, organizational policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an urgent care and emergency care environment, demonstrates sound clinical judgment, and values a collaborative, team-based approach to patient care.

Qualifications

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Louisiana. Current DEA registration and ability to prescribe medications in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.

Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another applicable specialty preferred. Previous experience in an emergency room, urgent care, or other acute-care setting strongly preferred.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred. Experience working collaboratively with Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) preferred.

Ability and willingness to serve as a collaborating physician for advanced practice providers in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational requirements. Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.

Ability to manage a broad range of acute illnesses and injuries in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively and professionally as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
