About the role
Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Clinical Midwife to
join the Maternity Inpaitents team in this part time, 24 hours per week,
11-month parental leave maximum term contract.
Based at our Mater Mothers Hospital Springfield, these roles are a part of a
landmark moment in Queensland healthcare which opened in early 2026. As Mater’s
newest public hospital, this state of the art facility will meet the needs of
the growing Greater Springfield region. With 174 public beds, ICU, maternity,
emergency and surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients
annually.
As a Level 4 maternity service, we are planning to care for approximately 1,700
women and families each year, providing care for women experiencing low to
moderate risk pregnancies. Clear referral pathways are established with Mater
Mothers’ Hospital South Brisbane for women requiring higher-level care.
Salary range: $57.48 - $61.55 per hour plus superannuation

What you’ll be doing
The successful applicant will provide clinical midwifery leadership and
management on a day-to-day basis and deliver evidence-based care to women
ranging from the care of normal, low risk women through to complex obstetric,
medical and gynaecology care requiring an extensive multidisciplinary approach.

About you
The successful candidate will have current Midwifery registration with AHPRA
(with no conditions).
* Holding a dual degree with nursing registration is highly advantageous.
* Considerable post-graduate midwifery experience in a maternity setting and
preferably in gynaecology nursing
* Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest
standards of nursing/midwifery practice
* Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise
patient care within the multidisciplinary team
* Commitment to the continuous improvement of health care and midwifery
practice, and to continuing professional development of self and others.
* Willingness to commit to and role model the Mater values

Key Responsibilities

Requirements
Must have current AHPRA Midwifery registration and considerable post-graduate experience in maternity and gynaecology settings. A dual degree with nursing registration is highly advantageous, along with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
