Population Served
The position does involve direct patient care for a population of patients ages 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Rehabilitation Therapy Services and/or Rehab Supervisor, the Physical Therapist plans, organizes, develops, administers, directs, and supervises Physical Therapy services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines to ensure the highest degree of quality care is rendered at all times.
Effective supervisory skills are needed, along with good communication skills for departmental and interdepartmental relationships.
The individual in this position must have initiative, be innovative, possess a sense of responsibility, integrity and sound judgment; follow standards of proper conduct, and abide by facility policies and standards of care.
This position does provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients, including comprehensive assessment, individual and group treatment, and supervision of treatment delivered by Physical Therapy Assistants, Physical Therapy support staff, and Physical Therapy students.
The Physical Therapist contributes to program development, quality improvement, program assessment, and departmental policy and procedure development.
Equipment Knowledge Required
The PT will demonstrate competency in theory and practical use of all electrical, thermal and mechanical equipment used in this department.
Requirements
Education, Training and Licenses Required:
- The Physical Therapist must be a graduate of a CAPTE (Commission on Accreditation and Physical Therapy Education) accredited university/college and;
- Current California licensure;
- Current BLS certification compliant with AHA guidelines;
- Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
Experience Required
- No prior work experience is required but is desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
- Thorough command of accepted PT evaluation and treatment techniques;
- Good documentation, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages and developmental stages.
Key Responsibilities
The Physical Therapist plans, organizes, and administers physical therapy services to adult and geriatric patients while supervising support staff and students. They are responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, individual and group treatments, and contributing to departmental policy and quality improvement initiatives.
