Job Description

Internal Medicine Physician Author, UWorld Medical

Keep your stethoscope. Add a new superpower.

Love practicing medicine but craving a way to make an impact beyond the bedside? What if you could keep caring for patients and help train thousands of future physicians at the same time?

At UWorld, our Physician Authors do exactly that. We're looking for an Internal Medicine physician to join our talented team of physicians, editors, and medical illustrators to create high-quality, compelling content for our USMLE®, Internal Medicine (ABIM®), and Family Medicine (ABFM) Question Banks, plus exciting new products in the pipeline.

You'll bring your real-world clinical experience to learners around the globe, sharpen your own knowledge along the way, and enjoy a career that blends patient care, teaching, and creativity. Bonus: you'll also get the work-life balance most physicians only dream about.

The Best of Both Worlds

As a Physician Author, you'll split your time between clinical practice and medical education. You'll work part-time in a hospital-based (e. g., hospitalist) or outpatient practice and spend the rest of your time at our corporate office in Irving, Texas. Most schedules combine 25–40% clinical work with 60–75% nonclinical work at UWorld, so you stay clinically sharp while building something that reaches far beyond one hospital or clinic.

What You'll Do

Write cases that feel like the real thing. Develop original clinical vignettes and comprehensive explanations for our USMLE®, ABIM®, ABFM, and other Question Banks, aligned with exam blueprints and the high-yield scenarios learners need to master.

Make great content even better. Review and revise fellow authors' work, offering thoughtful feedback focused on accuracy, clarity, and educational value.

Bring medicine to life visually. Partner with our medical illustration team to create captivating, high-yield images that highlight essential internal medicine concepts.

Collaborate across teams. Work with physicians, editors, illustrators, IT experts, and customer support professionals to produce top-notch content, improve processes, and respond to learner feedback.

Juggle like a seasoned attending. Manage your time effectively across projects while contributing to a positive, team-oriented culture.

Pitch in where it counts. Take on additional projects that support UWorld's mission of excellence in medical education.

What You Bring

  • Board-certified or board-eligible MD or DO in Internal Medicine
  • High scores on USMLE® Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for educating future physicians

Experience writing board-style questions, tutoring medical students, or working in an academic setting is a plus
