Job Description
The Attending Veterinarian (AV) is responsible for laboratory animal care and use. The AV consults with Cancer Center members and provides advice on animal care and use matters. The AV works with the Facility Advisory Committee to ensure that the LAF has the necessary resources to continue to provide services that support the research of Cancer Center members that require the use of animals in their research. The AV is a member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
Education
Doctorate Degree Veterinary Medicine Required
Experience
- 3 years experience working as a doctor in veterinary medicine caring for small animals
- (mice, rats, rabbits, etc.) Preferred
Licenses
PA Veterinary License Required
Key Responsibilities
The Attending Veterinarian oversees laboratory animal care and provides expert consultation to Cancer Center members regarding animal use. They also serve on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and collaborate with the Facility Advisory Committee to ensure adequate research resources.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine and possess at least 3 years of experience in small animal care. A valid Pennsylvania Veterinary License is required for this position.
