Job Description

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital; Fort Smith

Position: Occupational Therapist

Location: 6700 Chad Colley Boulevard, Fort Smith, AR 72916

Schedule: PRN, Day Shift | Flexible hours | Provide flexible staffing coverage for fluctuations in patient census, scheduled PTO, leaves of absence, call-ins, and vacancies | Work at least 1 weekend (Saturday or Sunday) per month and 1 holiday per year.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations to identify functional needs and goals
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that promote independence in daily living
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions that enhance motor skills, cognition, and adaptive abilities
  • Document patient progress with accuracy and clarity
  • Partner with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure cohesive care
  • Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive techniques, equipment, and safety
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support patient success
  • What we’re looking for
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Current Occupational Therapy license
  • CPR certification
  • Strong interpersonal communication and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with rehab documentation systems (preferred)
  • Experience in rehabilitation setting (preferred but not required

Key Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapist will conduct comprehensive patient evaluations to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote functional independence. They will also collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and families to ensure cohesive care and document patient progress accurately.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Occupational Therapy program and hold a current Occupational Therapy license. Additionally, CPR certification and strong interpersonal communication skills are required for this role.
