Job Description
This is a contract, on-site position offering an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting within the medical practice industry.
As a Locum NP or PA in Emergency Medicine, you will play a critical role in delivering urgent and emergent care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute conditions. You will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in a dynamic clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients of all ages
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as labs, X-rays, and EKGs
- Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and injuries in the emergency department
- Perform procedures such as suturing, splinting, and wound care
- Prescribe and manage appropriate medications and treatments
- Collaborate with supervising physicians and multidisciplinary teams
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Provide patient education and discharge instructions
- Participate in rapid response and emergency stabilization efforts
- Adhere to hospital protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold patient rights at all times
Requirements
- Associate-level experience in Emergency Medicine or a related acute care setting
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine
- Valid DEA registration and prescriptive authority
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous quality improvement
- Preferred: Prior locum tenens or emergency department experience
Schedule: 9a-9p and 3p-1a
No call required
Daily Volume: 80 patients, ~3.5% admissions
10 beds, 1 trauma bay
Required Procedures: Laceration repair, splinting, incision and drainage, etc.
Support Staff: Physicians, RNs, and an imaging tech
Must be board-certified
ACLS and BLS required
Paid travel and expenses
