Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 9AM - 5PM

Admissions Supervisor Summary

Supervises staff directly involved in delivering substance use and mental health admissions services for residential or outpatient programs. Conducts comprehensive assessments and develops and implements complex treatment plans for clients with dual diagnoses, social, or mental health issues.

Serves as a professional resource to other Counselors in resolving complex case problems and provides clinical supervision and guidance. Develops and maintains admissions policies and procedures, and assures adherence to same.

Works with managed care representatives and funding agencies to identify benefits available to clients based on individual needs.

Admissions Supervisor Duties & Responsibiltiies

Supervises staff directly involved in delivering substance abuse and mental health admissions, including interviewing prospective clients, conducting comprehensive assessments, completing admission forms, and preparing initial treatment plans.  Ensures clients’ needs and contractual obligations for quality of care are met.

Coordinates and monitors admissions and discharges to ensure maximum utilization of funding sources.  Audits admissions records to verify comprehensive assessments, accurate diagnosis, and designated level of care are appropriate to meet client needs.  Ensures timely completion of admissions records in accordance with established standards; identifies and resolves discrepancies.

Participates in the development of policies and procedures and identifies and recommends process improvements.  Interprets and enforces Gateway policies and procedures and orients staff to same.

Interviews, hires, schedules and assigns work to assigned staff.  Evaluates staff performance and recommends discipline and discharge in accordance with established personnel policies.

Provides regular supervision to promote professional growth and the development of clinical skills among assigned staff.  May plan and schedule in-services and workshops.

Compiles regular reports related to client census, contract/funding utilization, service activity and admissions, as well as various special reports and memos regarding admissions results and activities; recommends actions to improve program quality and effectiveness.

Maintains and fosters a cooperative working relationship with various potential referral resources and services, community organizations, social service agencies and insurance providers.

Conducts comprehensive assessments and contacts managed care company representatives to coordinate client services and benefits in response to workload and to maintain quality and continuity of care.

Education & Expereience Requirements

Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Substance Use Disorder Counseling required.

• Current LPC, LSW, LCPC, or LCSW valid in the state of Illinois.
• 3 - 5 years of progressively more responsible admissions experience at an inpatient or outpatient treatment facility or hospital.
• At least 2 years of concurrent supervisory experience.
• Advanced knowledge of substance abuse and mental health assessments, diagnoses, and interventions.

Advanced communication skills necessary to perform and oversee the admissions process, train staff on various evaluation techniques; to interpret, develop and write policies and procedures; to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations; and to maintain effective contacts with insurance companies, referral agencies, sources or services.

Analytical and problem-solving abilities necessary to plan and schedule the work of others; resolve conflicts; monitor compliance with regulations, standards and contracts, devise and implement appropriate corrective actions; audit and evaluate treatment plans and documentation; and analyze and summarize qualitative and quantitative data.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information.
• Ability to record and proofread information on forms and in the electronic health record.
• Ability to respond to telephones and pages and hear speech.

Ability to use a keyboard and display to enter, receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and enter data on a regular basis into the electronic health record.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to Executive Director or Program Director.

Responsible for leading and directing the work of exempt and non-exempt Admissions Counselors.

Working Conditions

Works in a normal office or clinical environment where there are relatively few discomforts due to dust, dirt, noise and the like.  Occasional exposure to contagious diseases, but potential for harm is limited if established safety and infection control precautions are followed.

Compensation (Based on Experience and Credentials)

Range begins at $70,000 - $97,498/year

Starting rates are determined based on years of experience, qualifications, and relevant skills.

Alpharus Health conducts annual performance reviews, with merit increase eligibility determined by employee performance and organizational financial performance.
