Responsibilities & Requirements

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Oncology provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals with cancer, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and symptom management.

This role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes, supports patient and family education, and ensures compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Performs other duties as assigned.

All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.

Required Education

Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

Required Work Experience

Clinical experience as a Registered Nurse completion of graduate-level clinical practicum in an advanced practice nursing program.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations

Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the State of Ohio. National certification as a Nurse Practitioner in a relevant specialty area from a board-approved certifying organization (e. g., ANCC, AANP). Current DEA registration or ability to obtain prior to prescribing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills ability to develop and implement individualized care plans proficiency in prescribing and managing medications within scope of practice strong patient education and counseling abilities effective verbal and written communication proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems ability to collaborate within interdisciplinary care teams critical thinking and evidence-based decision-making commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and infection control standards knowledge of HIPAA and regulatory requirements practice in accordance with state law and organizational policy.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education:

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Ph.D. in Nursing.

Preferred Work Experience

Experience in oncology nursing or hematology/oncology care.

Preferred Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations

Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) certification. Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
