Job Summary
Offer expert medical care to adults and children. Evaluate, treat, and help prevent illnesses and injuries that occur regularly in the general population. Refer patients to specialists when needed for further diagnosis or treatment. Family Medicine physicians work at various clinics and locations across Denver Health.
Essential Functions
Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with acute and chronic illnesses, including major and complicated, and perform procedures. (65%)
Provide preventative and therapeutic care for patients of all ages. This includes admitting patients, providing preventative care, acute care, prenatal care, injury care, management of chronic illnesses, and performing procedures. (30%)
May provide guidance to staff in providing care for patients in ambulatory or inpatient setting. (5%)
Education
Doctorate Degree Graduate of an accredited medical school Required
Work Experience
No previous experience required.
Licenses
- MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required and
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Has adequate knowledge and skill of all privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health and Hospital Authority Department of Family Medicine Clinical Privileges documentation.
Computer skills required.

Key Responsibilities
The physician will admit, evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages with acute and chronic illnesses within a correctional setting. They will also provide preventative care and perform necessary medical procedures while coordinating with specialists for further diagnosis.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Doctorate degree from an accredited medical school and possess a valid MD-Physician license from the State Medical Board. Additionally, Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
