MaineGeneral's Workplace Health team is seeking a physician who is passionate about evidence-based occupational medicine and interested in developing as a leader within the organization. Work together collegially, along with physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, health coaches, dietitians, and administrative staff. Employee Health Services, Workplace Health clinics operation between 8:00 am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. There is no call and evening and weekend work is rare.
Competitive Candidate Qualifications
Board certified of board eligible in Occupational Medicine (preferred) or Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine (considered).
Minimum three years of occupational medicine experience; urgent care, family medicine or emergency medicine experience acceptable.
Ability and willingness to practice evidence-based occupational medicine in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Current or future certification as a FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners physician.
- Current or future certification as a Medical Review Officer (MRO).
Strong working knowledge of workplace regulatory frameworks, including workers' compensation, transportation regulations, and occupational safety requirements.
Medical Director Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to lead, inspire, and train clinical and administrative staff.
Comfortable balancing two days of direct patient care with three days of administrative and leadership duties, including staff development, consultations, and oversight of state and federal contracts.
- Approachable, supportive and engaged with the team, fostering collaboration and open communication.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and alignment with MaineGeneral Health's values and standards.
- Willing to participate in and present at educational programs, including CAOHC and NIOSH respirator training.
- Skilled in delivering effective presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Capable of making strategic, informed decisions that support program growth and direction.

MaineGeneral Workplace Health provides occupational health services across Kennebec and Somerset counties in central Maine, including Augusta, the state capital.
A significant portion of the team's work involves State of Maine governmental organizations, offering consultation and health surveillance for state employees.
The program operates multiple industry site clinics, staffed by medical and nursing professionals, giving team members exposure to a wide variety of workplace environments and occupational health needs.
