Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Orthopedics

Nemours is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Bel Air, MD. The Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to provide care for pediatric patients in Bel Air, MD.

Interested candidates should be organized, self-directed, and possess excellent communication skills.

As the Bel Air office is slated to open May/June 2027, initial training will take place at the hospital in Wilmington, DE.

Primary responsibilities may include comprehensive patient assessments including history and physical examinations; formulating assessment and treatment plans of pediatric patients; ordering diagnostic tests; performing procedures such as pin removal, suturing and suture removal; splinting and cast application, splint and cast removal; joint injection or aspiration; manipulative fracture reduction; communicating with physicians about changes in patient’s clinical condition and results of diagnostic studies; educating parents/caregivers on patient condition and plan of care; triaging and responding to phone calls from patient families, physical therapists, insurance companies, and others regarding patient care; accurately recording patient information in the electronic medical record; communicating effectively with appropriate medical staff for purposes of consultation, referral, and coordination of patient care.

Qualifications

• Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants/Current appropriate national certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner
• Clear and active license as a Physician Assistant in Delaware, Delaware (or compact state) RN licensure & Delaware APRN Licensure
• Active Maryland licensure preferred but can be obtained once hired.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association

• One to three years of experience required; pediatric experience preferred
