The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is recruiting a forensic pathologist who will be responsible for conducting postmortem examinations, providing medicolegal consultations and courtroom testimony, participating in quality assurance programs, and developing an academic presence corresponding to the candidate’s areas of interest. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

• License or certificate requirements
• Degree from an accredited school of medicine;
• Unrestricted South Carolina state medical license;

Certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Forensic Pathology, or eligible to take the forensic pathology boards; board certification in Forensic Pathology must be obtained within 2 years of hire.

The Medical University of South Carolina is located on the coast of SC in the historic city of Charleston. Charleston offers temperate weather with access to award winning restaurants and a multitude of outdoor water and land activities. Our office resides in the University itself with access to subspecialty consultations in multiple areas, including neuropathology, cardiac pathology, and pediatric radiology. We function in a true academic environment with an ACGME certified forensic pathology fellowship, a robust pathology resident rotation and multiple educational opportunities in the College of Medicine. The autopsy service is staffed by 6 board certified forensic pathologists who perform ~ 1600 postmortem exams annually.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a faculty position with academic rank and salary commensurate with qualifications, expertise and accomplishments.
