Job Description

The Clinical Informatics Systems Adoption Specialist leads Oracle Health Cerner training, onboarding, readiness, workflow adoption, and optimization activities supporting nursing-focused EHR workflows.

The role combines advanced Oracle Health application knowledge, nursing workflow expertise, instructional design, competency validation, and change adoption leadership to support safe, consistent system use across multiple facilities.

Designs and delivers role-based education, maintains curricula and competency assessments, and supports clinicians during system implementations, conversions, upgrades, enhancements, optimizations, go-lives, and stabilization periods.

Collaborates with clinical, operational, informatics, application, project, and education teams to ensure training reflects approved workflows and system functionality.

Standardizes training methods, mentors adoption specialists and instructors, coordinates super user networks, evaluates adoption outcomes, and resolves complex workflow and learning barriers with limited direction.

A nursing license is not required; demonstrated expertise in Oracle Health nursing workflows and clinician training is essential.

Essential Functions

Patient & Customer Impact

  • Coordinates instructor-led, virtual, simulation-based, and on-demand learning activities aligned with approved Oracle Health nursing workflows and role-based responsibilities to support safe and effective patient care.
  • Designs and facilitates realistic workflow practice and competency validation for high-risk nursing processes and assigned Oracle Health solutions.
  • Provides advanced end-user support during implementations, conversions, upgrades, optimization initiatives, go-live events, and stabilization activities.
  • Supports adoption of approved clinical workflows that improve clinician efficiency, patient safety, care quality, and regulatory compliance

Execution & Accountability

  • Independently manages assigned training, onboarding, readiness, and adoption activities with limited supervision.
  • Develops and maintains role-based curricula, lesson plans, workflow scenarios, presentations, job aids, and competency assessments.
  • Updates learning content to reflect approved conversions, upgrades, enhancements, workflow changes, and optimization decisions.
  • Maintains training-content libraries using established content-management and version-control standards.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and monitors training participation, competency achievement, readiness metrics, user feedback, and adoption outcomes.
  • Maintains required training, workflow-validation, competency, and adoption-support documentation.

Collaboration & Partnership

  • Partners with clinical, operational, informatics, application, education, and project stakeholders to support workflow adoption and end-user readiness.
  • Coordinates super-user engagement and targeted support activities for departments, specialties, or workflows requiring additional assistance.
  • Represents training, competency, readiness, and adoption considerations in project, workflow, testing, implementation, and optimization discussions.
  • Shares expertise, provides consultation, and supports professional growth of fellow adoption specialists through coaching, knowledge sharing, and best-practice guidance.
  • Communicates training, workflow, readiness, and adoption concerns through established stakeholder and governance channels.

Improvement & Innovation

  • Conducts workflow assessments to identify training gaps, workflow variation, adoption barriers, and opportunities to improve system utilization.
  • Evaluates learning content and revises educational materials based on user feedback, workflow changes, competency outcomes, and adoption results.
  • Uses validated workflow findings to enhance training materials, competency assessments, workflow guides, and end-user support resources.
  • Evaluates training effectiveness and recommends improvements to educational strategies, workflow reinforcement approaches, and sustainment activities.
  • Supports workflow optimization and continuous-improvement initiatives through education, adoption, and change-support activities

  • Supports compliance with organizational standards, approved workflows, policies, regulatory requirements, and documentation expectations.
  • Identifies, documents, and communicates readiness, workflow, training, and adoption risks through established governance and project processes.
  • Supports workflow-validation and testing activities and communicates outcomes through approved channels.
  • Distinguishes educational concerns from workflow, access, configuration, application, or technical issues and escalates concerns appropriately.
  • Maintains the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of training, competency, readiness, testing, and adoption documentation.

Expertise & Leadership Influence

  • Serves as a trusted subject matter expert for Oracle Health nursing workflows, user adoption, training readiness, and workflow optimization.
  • Provides consultation and guidance regarding workflow adoption, educational strategies, readiness planning, and competency development.
  • Influences clinical adoption and workflow standardization through expertise, education, collaboration, and relationship building rather than positional authority.
  • Serves as a trusted resource for clinical leaders, informatics partners, educators, and stakeholders regarding workflow adoption and end-user enablement strategies.
  • Contributes to enterprise training standards, adoption practices, competency frameworks, and continuous-improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Allied Health, or a related field required (a combination of relevant education, Oracle Health expertise, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • 7 years of experience in clinical systems training, onboarding, informatics education, or EHR adoption, including advanced experience with Oracle Health nursing workflows required; OR 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required

Preferred Experience

  • Oracle Health Cerner nursing workflow training, implementation or conversion support, EHR upgrade, enhancement, or optimization support, curriculum and competency-assessment development, go-live and stabilization support, end-user workflow validation or test-script execution, super-user or clinical-champion coordination, training, readiness, or adoption measurement

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of instructional design and adult-learning practices.
  • Strong EHR training, facilitation, presentation, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of nursing EHR workflows and role-based system use.
  • Ability to create curricula, workflow scenarios, job aids, and competency assessments.
  • Ability to assess the training and workflow impact of conversions, upgrades, enhancements, and optimizations.
  • Working knowledge of end-user workflow validation and test-script support.
  • Ability to document findings, escalate concerns, and distinguish training issues from technical or configuration issues.
  • Knowledge of change-management, readiness, adoption, and sustainment practices.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting training, competency, adoption, and post-go-live performance data.
  • Strong stakeholder coordination and relationship-management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365, learning-management systems, reporting tools, and content-management practices.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned initiatives and mentor junior team members.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and leadership communication skills.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Relevant Oracle Health/Cerner certification, proficiency, or verified application expertise - Preferred
  • Instructional design, adult learning, change-management, or training certification - Preferred
  • RN, LPN, RT, PharmD, or similar - Not Required
