Job Description
Community Healthcare Network is looking for a full-time Medical Director who will serve as an integral member of Medical Affairs leadership. Responsible for assuming leadership in primary care at a particular CHN Center; supervises other clinicians at that center and teams with the center leadership to ensure quality primary care.
This position consists of mostly clinical time with at least 20% administrative time to meet the responsibilities required of a Medical Director and Primary Care clinician.
Compensation
- Medical Director (Nurse Practitioner): $173,901–$184,770 USD annually
- Medical Director (Family Medicine): $226,002–$254,252 USD annually
Salary ranges are based on the position and may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and other applicable factors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
1. Provides high quality primary care in accordance with CHN clinical policies and procedures and maintains a continuity panel of patients.
2. Ensures high quality care by mentoring and overseeing the Primary Care clinicians at the center. Meets with Primary Care clinicians at the center regularly, including monthly center provider meetings. Responsible for completing Annual Performance Reviews for these clinicians.
3. Collaborates with Nursing and Operations leadership at the center to ensure high quality efficient care through adherence to policies and procedures and tenets of team-based care. Meets weekly with center leadership team (RN manager, center director and center manager) to collaborate on site issues and provide updates on clinical care
4. Reviews and responds to occurrence reports and feedback regarding clinicians in a timely fashion. Investigates occurrence reports and submits report on Quantros platform.
5. Explores and develops relationships with local organizations in collaboration with clinical and operational leadership.
6. Collaborates with clinicians in Departments of Psychiatry, Dental, Podiatry and Optometry at the center and across the network.
7. Works with local center leadership to ensure consistent clinician staffing. Provides MA Scheduling with coverage plan in advance and reviews and recommends approval for PTO requests. This includes approval of ongoing clinician PTO requests, coordination of quarterly PTO request windows, and assisting with medical affairs leadership to troubleshoot unexpected coverage gaps at site.
8. Oversees peer reviews of Primary Care clinicians’ charts on a regular basis and discusses with the clinician. Works with Medical Affairs senior leadership to develop performance improvement plan or discipline when indicated.
9. Supports Medical Affairs in regulatory compliance with entities such as New York State DOHMH, Patient Centered Medical Home, HRSA, Joint Commission, and others.
10. Reviews and oversees quality measures to meet regulatory and CHN standards. Discusses clinical metrics with center leadership and Medical Affairs senior leadership. Develops strategies and participates in supervision of QI projects at the center.
11. Participates in network-wide clinical committee or initiative as requested. Serves as clinical voice representing CHN Medical Affairs at internal and external meetings when needed.
12. Communicates to Director of Primary Care regularly, including monthly 1:1 meetings, reporting on site issues, quality metrics/initiatives, clinician concerns, and site visit volume.
13. Attends and participates in monthly medical director meetings.
14. Assists with recruiting and onboarding for new Primary Care clinicians, including shadowing, supervising ECW practice, chart monitoring, mentorship of clinicians, participation in interviews and site visits. Serves as collaborating physician for Advance Practice Nurses when applicable.
15. Monitors time and attendance of site primary care clinicians, and approves overtime when indicated.
16. Communicates with clinicians when they are out sick or running late, attends daily site huddles and communicates updates to staff when needed. Attends monthly site staff meetings and provides medical affairs updates to staff.
17. Reviews weekly data reports including unlocked notes report, provider dashboard and others as indicated, monitoring clinician performance and providing support/disciplinary action when needed.
18. Performs other related duties as assigned by manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Required
- Completion of approved and accredited training to practice medicine as a Physician or Advanced Practice Nurse.
- Current New York State license to practice medicine as a Physician or Advanced Practice Nurse.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Physician or Advanced Practice Nurse leader, preferably in an ambulatory care setting.
