The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. Description of Work

This position is located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex, Raleigh, NC 27606. Central Prison is a close-custody prison housing male offenders. Central Prison serves as the hub for healthcare for the male inmate population. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 1308 offenders.

Positions at this level involve applying theory in the diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders, providing individual and group counseling to offenders, and serving as a liaison between correctional staff and offenders. The Clinical Social Worker will provide direct psychological services to offenders with a range of emotional and behavioral issues, including those with severe and persistent mental illness and personality disorders. Such services include mental health triage/screening, crisis intervention, mental health assessment and treatment planning, suicide/self-injury assessment and management, and Restrictive Housing reviews and evaluations.

The Clinical Social Worker may also conduct risk assessments on offenders with a history of violent or sexual crimes and may be required to travel to other facilities to complete HUB-related duties, as clinically relevant and necessary for behavioral health system function, as directed by the Human Services Program Manager II/III or Psychological Program Manager. Additional responsibilities include participating in the on-call rotation to provide after-hour/weekend coverage for the institution(s) and participating in discharge planning for identified offenders with aftercare planning duties and, for those with appropriate training, administering, interpreting, and summarizing psychological testing.

Salary Range $55,221 - $88,607

Comprehensive Health Services (CHS) delivers health services to individuals incarcerated in North Carolina state prisons. Our mission is to provide constitutionally appropriate medical, mental health, dental, and pharmaceutical care that meets professional standards. CHS health professionals ensure access to timely, essential, and comprehensive services and programs that support the wellbeing of incarcerated individuals. This care is delivered by licensed staff and through partnerships with private providers and the University of North Carolina system.

Veterans’ and National Guard Preference

Minimum Education and Experience

Master's degree from an appropriately accredited school of social work. Licensure is required from NC SW Certification and Licensure Board.

Necessary Special Qualification Requirements - One must fulfill all requirements for Licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.
