Job Description
- Nurse Practitioner - Neurosurgery
- Full-Time | $125,000-$170,000/year | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
- Location: Gainesville, GA 30501
Make an Impact in Neurosurgical Care
Southern Neurosurgery provides specialized care for patients with conditions involving the brain, spine, and nervous system. We are looking for a Nurse Practitioner who is ready to work closely with experienced neurosurgeons and play an active role in patient care across the clinic, hospital, and operating room.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and provide ongoing follow-up
- Assist neurosurgeons during surgical procedures as a first assist
- Manage inpatient rounding, post-operative care, and hospital consultations
- Complete patient histories and physical examinations
- Order and review CT, MRI, X-ray, and other diagnostic studies
- Perform appropriate bedside and clinical procedures, including wound care, drain management, and suture/staple removal
- Prescribe medications within applicable guidelines
- Coordinate patient care and communicate findings with physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain thorough and accurate medical records
- Participate in a rotating after-hours call schedule
What You Bring
Required
- Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current state NP licensure
- Current BCLS certification
- Active DEA license
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work comfortably in clinic, hospital, and OR settings
- Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical environments
Preferred
- Neurosurgery, spine, orthopedic, surgical, or inpatient experience
- Previous first-assist experience or certification
- ACLS certification
- CNOR, CSFA, or similar surgical certification
Candidates with relevant surgical or inpatient experience who are new to neurosurgery may be considered for training.
