Job Description
This is a contract, on-site position offering a unique opportunity to provide essential anesthesia care within a dynamic Medical Practice environment. As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, you will play a critical role in delivering safe and effective anesthesia services to patients across a variety of surgical and medical procedures.
In this locum role, you will collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Your expertise will be vital in preoperative assessment, intraoperative anesthesia management, and postoperative care. This position offers the chance to work in a supportive, fast-paced clinical setting where your skills are highly valued and your contributions directly impact patient safety and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Administer anesthesia and monitor patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Perform comprehensive preoperative patient assessments and develop individualized anesthesia care plans.
- Manage airway and ventilation, ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative period.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Monitor vital signs and adjust anesthesia levels as needed during procedures.
- Document anesthesia records accurately and maintain compliance with medical standards.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide critical care support as required.
- Educate patients and their families about anesthesia procedures and postoperative expectations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Maintain current knowledge of anesthesia best practices and emerging techniques.
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Provide post-anesthesia care and pain management follow-up.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Nursing or a related field; graduation from an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program.
- Current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the NBCRNA.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong clinical skills in anesthesia administration and patient monitoring.
- Excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced medical practice.
- Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and quality care.
- Willingness to work on-site and adapt to varying surgical schedules.
- Preferred: Experience in locum tenens or contract-based anesthesia roles.
- Preferred: Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and anesthesia documentation.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour day shifts
Weeknight and weekend beeper call required
Case Mix: Orthopedic, general, endo, OB/GYN, pediatrics, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, and plastics
Must be proficient in blocks, spinals, and epidurals
Daily Team Structure: 3 CRNAs, 2 MDs
60% medical supervision
EMR: Medaxion
