Job Description
This is a contract, on-site position offering a unique opportunity to provide essential advanced practice provider coverage within a high-acuity critical care environment. As part of a collaborative medical team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting the clinical operations of a busy practice.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the care of critically ill patients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and clinical excellence.
The position requires a proactive, adaptable professional who can integrate quickly into a dynamic healthcare setting and contribute to positive patient outcomes. Working on-site allows for direct, hands-on engagement with patients and staff, fostering a supportive and efficient care environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients under the supervision of attending physicians
- Conduct daily rounds, assessments, and develop individualized treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs and imaging
- Prescribe and manage medications and therapies as appropriate
- Perform procedures within scope of practice, such as central line placement and arterial line insertion
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, specialists, and ancillary staff
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical protocols
- Provide coverage as needed, including potential weekend or on-call rotations
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and practice standards
Requirements
- Associate degree or higher from an accredited NP or PA program
- Current and unrestricted NP or PA license in the state of Massachusetts
- Board certification as an NP (e. g., ACNP, AGACNP) or PA (NCCPA)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care or acute care settings
- Must have strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Must have proficiency in performing critical care procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
- Familiarity with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring is a plus
Schedule: 7p-7a, 3-5 shifts in a row
7-bed closed ICU
No call required
Patient Volume: 5-7 per shift
Duties: Central lines, arterial lines, vent management, admissions, and ED consults
No intubations required
EMR: Epic
Must be board-certified
ACLS and MLS required
