Key Responsibilities

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for diagnosing and providing therapy for communication and swallowing disorders across various age groups, from neonates to adults. This includes planning, organizing, and coordinating care, selecting outcome goals, and utilizing community resources to promote patient and family independence.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a Louisiana state license to practice as a Speech Pathologist and a Master's degree in Communication Disorders. Certification of Clinical Competency by ASHA is required, though new graduates (Clinical Fellows) have one year to obtain it, and American Heart Association BLS certification is mandatory.
