About the Role

As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a critical role in promoting oral health and preventing dental diseases among patients of all ages. Your primary focus will be to provide professional dental care, including cleaning teeth, applying preventive materials, and assisting dentists during procedures.

You will educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and the importance of maintaining dental health to prevent future issues. This role requires a compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout treatments.

Ultimately, your work will contribute significantly to improving patients' overall health and quality of life through effective dental hygiene practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
• Valid state licensure or certification to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
• Proficiency in administering local anesthesia and performing dental prophylaxis.
• Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, pathology, and preventive care techniques.
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform precise dental procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with pediatric patients and knowledge of pediatric dental care.
• Familiarity with the latest dental technologies and electronic health record systems.
• Continuing education in patient education strategies and dental health promotion.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings and examinations to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth.
• Administer local anesthesia and apply preventive treatments such as fluoride and sealants as needed.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, dietary choices, and post-treatment care to maintain dental health.
• Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and medical histories.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.
• Provide specialized care and education tailored to pediatric patients and other specific populations.

The required skills such as dentistry knowledge, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity are essential for performing precise and effective dental cleanings and treatments daily.
