The Director of Nursing (DON) provides strategic and operational leadership for all nursing and clinical services within the Center. The DON oversees staffing, clinical operations, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient care delivery while building a collaborative, high-performing care team.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision, and operational oversight for all nursing staff and clinical services
- Ensure safe, efficient, high-quality patient care throughout the surgical experience
- Manage staffing, scheduling, shift coverage, and performance evaluations
- Recruit, interview, onboard, mentor, and develop care team members
- Oversee compliance with HIPAA, Medicare, state licensing requirements, accreditation standards, and infection control policies
- Lead Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives and monitor clinical outcomes
- Collaborate with physician partners, anesthesia providers, and administrative leadership to improve operational efficiency and patient satisfaction
- Maintain oversight of EMR/EHR systems, clinical documentation, and medical records management
- Monitor Center benchmarks, scorecards, incident reports, and quality metrics
- Support budget management, labor utilization, pharmaceutical expenses, and cost-saving initiatives
- Partner with Materials Management on supply utilization and inventory controls
- Build a positive, professional, team-oriented culture
- Lead and support change management initiatives and organizational growth
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
- Minimum 3-5 years of nursing leadership or management experience
- At least 2-3 years managing a surgical services department or ASC, as a Director of Nursing, OR Manager, Clinical Manager, or Clinical Director in a perioperative, outpatient surgery, or ASC setting
- Strong knowledge of ASC regulations, HIPAA, Medicare compliance, and quality standards
- Experience managing clinical staff, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and clinical documentation processes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN required; MSN preferred
- ASC, perioperative, or surgical services leadership experience beyond the minimum
- Experience with accreditation surveys and QAPI programs
- CNOR or leadership certification preferred

Requirements
Candidates must hold a current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license and possess 3-5 years of nursing leadership experience, specifically in a surgical or ASC setting. A BSN is required, while an MSN and CNOR certification are preferred.
