Job Description

  • Job Title: Physician – Oncology
  • Job Type: Locum Tenens
  • Location: Richmond, Indiana
  • Service Setting: Inpatient
  • Coverage Type: Clinical + Call
  • Coverage Period: September 1, 2026 – Ongoing
  • Clinical Shift Schedule: Tuesday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour unpaid lunch); Mondays off
  • On-Call Schedule: Night Call on some days - schedule TBD; Weekend Call Schedule - TBD
  • Call Type: Telephone Call (Provider comes to the hospital only if requested by the APP)
  • Call Response Time: Telephone availability required

Coverage Details

  • Coverage begins September 1, 2026
  • Winchester clinic coverage every Wednesday
  • Hagerstown clinic coverage every other Thursday (1st and 3rd Thursdays each month)
  • Provider will travel between multiple practice locations
  • Telemedicine is not available

Job Requirements

  • Licenses: Active Indiana Medical License or IMLC
  • Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible (Board certification required within 5 years of residency)
  • DEA: Active DEA (if applicable)
  • Certifications: BLS Required, ACLS Required only if requesting conscious sedation privileges

Experience

  • Oncology experience
  • Case logs required

Other Qualifications

  • Flu vaccination required (or approved medical/religious exemption)
  • COVID-19 vaccination required (or approved medical/religious exemption)
  • Must enter work hours in the Vemsta platform
  • Must complete order entry as the locum provider

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient oncology care
  • Evaluate and manage oncology patients during scheduled clinical hours
  • Participate in night and weekend telephone call rotation
  • Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers and provide physician support as needed
  • Travel to outreach clinic locations in Winchester and Hagerstown for scheduled coverage
  • Provider must be able to provide 3+ weeks (preferably 4 weeks) coverage in a month

Key Responsibilities

Provide inpatient oncology care and manage patients during scheduled clinical hours at the hospital and outreach clinics. Participate in a night and weekend telephone call rotation while collaborating with Advanced Practice Providers.

Requirements

Must hold an active Indiana Medical License or IMLC and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Oncology. Requires active DEA, BLS, and ACLS certifications, along with the ability to travel between practice locations.
