Job Requirements

Carilion Clinic is seeking an experienced Director of Advanced Cardiac Imaging to join the Section of Cardiology at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 703-bed Level 1 Trauma and Tertiary Care Center serving more than one million patients across Virginia.

This is a leadership opportunity for a physician with advanced expertise in cardiac imaging and a vision to develop and expand Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI services across a system of seven hospitals and multiple ambulatory sites.

Position Overview

The Director of Advanced Cardiac Imaging will provide strategic leadership for the cardiac imaging program while maintaining an active clinical role as a non-invasive cardiologist. The physician will play a central role in advancing clinical excellence, promoting multidisciplinary collaboration, and supporting education and research in cardiovascular imaging.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and expand Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI programs across the health system
• Develop clinical protocols and imaging standards
• Foster collaboration among cardiology, radiology, and referring services

Provide Non-invasive Cardiology Clinical Care

• Teach cardiology fellows, internal medicine residents, and other learners (formal and bedside instruction)
• Participate in and support research initiatives aligned with the academic mission

• In July 2025, Carilion Clinic opened the Crystal Spring Tower, a 500,000+ square-foot expansion that houses the Cardiovascular Institute and an expanded Emergency Department, featuring:

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Cardiology
• Board Certification or advanced training in Advanced Cardiac Imaging
• Level III training in Cardiovascular CT and/or Cardiac MRI

The posted salary range may not reflect the full value of the total compensation package. You are eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs to improve the minimum salary.

• Min 531,000
• Max 782,000

Historical averages of Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus earnings are included in the maximum salary. In addition, comprehensive benefits and pension offerings further enhance the overall rewards package.
