Interventional Cardiologist
Full-Time | Leesburg & Summerfield / The Villages Area, Florida
Position Summary
We are seeking a full-time Interventional Cardiologist to join a growing, comprehensive cardiovascular team serving Leesburg, Summerfield, and The Villages area of Florida.
The physician will join an established cardiovascular group providing General Cardiology, Electrophysiology (EP), and Interventional Cardiology services. The position includes comprehensive cardiovascular care across the hospital, outpatient clinic, and outpatient surgery center.
The ideal candidate will be a patient-focused Interventional Cardiologist with strong clinical and procedural skills who values collaboration and high-quality patient care. Two or more years of post-fellowship experience is preferred; however, highly qualified new fellowship graduates are encouraged to apply.
About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary cardiovascular team providing comprehensive cardiac care to a growing patient population in Central Florida.
The group provides General Cardiology, Electrophysiology, and Interventional Cardiology services, supporting coordinated cardiovascular care across multiple specialties and care settings.
The Interventional Cardiologist will work alongside other cardiovascular physicians and clinical professionals while providing care across the hospital, outpatient clinic, and outpatient surgery center. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and development of cardiovascular services in the Leesburg, Summerfield, and The Villages communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive interventional and general cardiology care across hospital, outpatient clinic, and outpatient surgery center settings
- Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions
- Perform interventional cardiology procedures consistent with the physician's training, credentials, privileges, and facility capabilities
- Provide pre-procedure evaluations, procedural care, and post-procedure management and follow-up
- Provide inpatient cardiovascular consultations and management
- Evaluate and manage new and established patients in the outpatient setting
- Collaborate with General Cardiologists, Electrophysiologists, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, primary care physicians, and other specialists
- Develop individualized treatment plans using current evidence-based cardiovascular guidelines
- Coordinate patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings to promote continuity of care
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
- Maintain high standards for patient safety, quality, and clinical outcomes
- Participate in quality improvement and clinical performance initiatives
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians and community healthcare providers
- Support the continued growth and development of cardiovascular services
Qualifications
Required
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited Internal Medicine residency
- Successful completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Disease fellowship
- Successful completion of an accredited Interventional Cardiology fellowship
- Fellowship-trained and board-certified in Adult Cardiovascular Disease, and fellowship-trained and board certified/board eligible in Interventional Cardiology (ABIM or equivalent recognized board)
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Florida; active Florida licensure required prior to beginning clinical practice
- Successful completion of all applicable Florida physician licensing and background-screening requirements
- Eligible to obtain appropriate hospital and outpatient procedural privileges
- Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain registration as required for
The Position
- Current BLS and ACLS certification, as required by affiliated facilities
- Demonstrated clinical competency in the evaluation and management of cardiovascular disease
- Strong interventional and procedural skills appropriate to the scope of the position
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary cardiovascular team
- Commitment to high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care
- Level 3 training in cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology Preferred
- Experience providing cardiovascular care across hospital, outpatient clinic, and outpatient procedural/surgery center settings
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary cardiovascular group that includes General Cardiology and Electrophysiology
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, patient safety, clinical outcomes, and an excellent patient experience
- Interest in contributing to the continued growth and development of cardiovascular services
- Additional training and/or experience in peripheral vascular disease and structural heart disease is preferred but not mandatory
- Two or more years of post-fellowship experience is preferred; highly qualified new fellowship graduates are encouraged to apply
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation and benefits will be discussed with qualified candidates and will be based on years of experience, qualifications, and scope of practice.
