PRN Music Therapist
Bell Hospital
Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Music Therapist provides professional music therapy assessments and addresses physical, emotional and social needs of patients through the use of music. Demonstrates collaborative interaction with all members of the health care team in a partnership of care.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
Assists in the development and utilization of music therapy materials to educate staff, patients and families, and other professionals and the public regarding music therapy.
Attends interdisciplinary meetings with multidisciplinary treatment teams to coordinate needs of patients.
Completes and documents patient centered/individualized music therapy assessments needed to develop treatment plans.
Conducts individual and group therapy sessions.
Coordinates care with all members of the health care team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Demonstrates the ability to provide care/ service safely and efficiently. - Implements goals through the use of music therapy services to patients and families in a safe, timely and appropriate manner.
Provides music therapy and assists with procedures to all pediatric patients throughout the hospital.
Recognizes and addresses the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of patients through music.
Recognizes the importance of cultural diversity, maturational level and individual preferences and needs.
Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively.
Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy from an AMTA accredited college or university.
High School Graduate
2 or more years of clinical experience.

Required Licensure and Certification
Music Therapist Board Certified (MT-BC) or intent to take the exam within the first 9 months of employment.
