Job Description

Main Line Women’s Healthcare, an Axia Women’s Health care center, has provided Obstetrics and Gynecology services to women on the Main Line for more than 60 years. Our established group is seeking a full-scope Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our collaborative team.

  • Group Providers: 7 OB/GYN Physicians, 2 Nurse Practitioners, 1 Certified Nurse Midwife & Growing!
  • 3 Convenient Office Locations: Bryn Mawr, King of Prussia, & Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania
  • 50/50 OB/GYN
  • Group Deliveries: Approximately 450-500 per year
  • In-office ultrasounds with technologists

Hospital Affiliation: Bryn Mawr Hospital - Main Line Health

  • Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • 24/7 In-House Anesthesiologist

CNM Position Summary

The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is responsible for the assessment of selected patients in the designated service. The CNM performs physical examinations, confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically, and works hand in hand with other providers in a synergistic and cooperative manner. As a midwife in the care center, their job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Practices under the standard procedure established for the CNM role consistent with Company policy and in accordance with all legal requirements.
  • Conducts age - appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol.
  • Performs assessment/data collection in an on-going systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial. cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.
  • Consults with supervising physician or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings.
  • Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to assure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators for patients cared for in the designated service.
  • Reviews medical record for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified by the practice.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning.
  • Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the health care team.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.
  • On call requirements.

Qualifications

  • Pennsylvania CNM license, Prescriptive Authority, & DEA or ability to obtain.
  • Recent full-scope CNM experience, outside of educational clinical experience highly preferred. Will consider new graduates with L&D RN experience.
