- Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI (LSS) is seeking a Substance Abuse
- Counselor - In Training (SAC-IT) to join our dedicated team in Janesville, WI.
- This role focuses on group therapy for individuals navigating substance use disorder and supporting their recovery journey. You’ll work with referrals from
- Rock County, the Department of Corrections, and self-referrals.
What You’LL Do
- Facilitate curriculum‑based psychoeducation groups
- Complete intake, screening, and assessment tools (with supervision as required)
- Provide addiction counseling and basic case management services
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with state, federal, and agency standards
- Coordinate services with internal teams and external partners
- Participate in supervision, training, and staff meetings
Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in human services or related field
- Valid WI credential: SAC‑IT, SAC, or CSAC
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, recovery principles, and case management
- Experience with correctional populations preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse populations
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
