Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, FT Evenings (3pm-11pm)

Job Details: Level: Entry, Job Location: El Paso Childrens Hospital - El Paso, TX, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: Graduate Degree, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Shift: Evening, Job Category: Nurse, Provides acute health care to infants, children and adolescents.

This includes health surveillance as well as assessment and intervention to diagnose and treat illness or disease whether acute or chronic, physical, psychosocial or behavioral.

Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with the supervising physician to provide patient assessment and diagnosis, formulae treatment plans, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, internet test results, provide patient education, prepare medical records and refer patients for other services and care as indicated.

May also provide primary care services as indicated or needed. Reports to Chief Nursing Officer. Refer to Delineation of Privileges for specific scope of practice.

Qualifications

Work Experience Two (2) years of pediatric acute care setting; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

License/Registration/Certification Must possess Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licensed in the state of Texas. Must possess an Active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License number or ability to apply for such license prior or upon hire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Education and Training Graduation from an advanced nursing practice program accredited by the Texas Board of Nursing or other National accrediting body recognized by Texas Board of Nursing.

Skills Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Competent in the application of population-specific needs.

Uses facility approved practice guidelines to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of psychiatric problems. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.

This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Knowledge of the principles of the development, implementation, and documentation of individualized care and of treatment plans.

Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of physical and mental health needs. Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, ethnicity, and cultures.

Ability to teach patients about specific psychiatric problems and about self-care activities to promote wellness. Ability to evaluate age-specific and developmental-specific needs of patients, prescribe and implement an effective course of treatment in collaboration with other clinical personnel.

Possesses critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills. Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to utilize computers for documentation purposes.

Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
