Job Description

Behavioral Health Clinician

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Creative Arts Therapist. If not licensed, obtain a limited permit upon hire and successfully pass licensing exam by the end of permit period.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License (copy required upon hire)
  • Yearly Physical (required within one month after hire)
  • Ability to work with a diverse population presenting a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, developmental and sexual identities. Must have the ability and willingness to establish and foster healthy and supportive relationships that acknowledge individual identities and encourage personal growth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in working with adolescents
  • Previous experience in working within a substance abuse treatment program

Requirements

1. Must successfully complete all required background checks:

  • NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR)
  • Multi-State Sex Offender Registry (SOR)
  • NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) fingerprinting
  • NYS Justice Center Staff Exclusion List (SEL)
  • NYS OMIG Medicaid Exclusion List
  • Out-of-state child abuse register inquiry of any state in which the person resided within the last five years (if applicable)
  • NYS License Event Notification Service (LENS)
  • Office of Inspector General (OIG)

2. Must successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)

Hours

  • 40 hours per week
  • Must be flexible to meet the needs of the program

Salary

$75,000-$90,000/year

Duties and Responsibilities

A. Responsible for the oversight and clinical development of an individual treatment plan for each resident and family, implementation of the treatment plan, and subsequent transfer and discharge planning along with appropriate continuing care recommendations.

B. Maintain up-to-date and accurate information on each resident in the statewide Connections system, including progress notes, incidences of family contact, resident contact individual, and group counseling, etc. as required by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

C. Provide individual, group, and family counseling to residents and their families as well as coordinate appropriate family/resource visitation in conjunction with the Family Services Coordinator(if applicable), Cottage Manager and Youth Care Specialists.

D. Responsible for the selection, annual evaluation, accountability, and disciplinary process in conjunction with Human Resources on an as-needed basis.

E. Responsible for training and onboarding of the cottage Case Planner, ensuring they understand their role.

F. Responsible for assessing the Case Planner’s work performance identifying areas that need improvement, and providing additional training as may be needed.

G. Responsible for providing and documenting regular ongoing supervision to the Case Planner.

H. During weekly cottage team meetings, provide in-service training to educate and guide Youth Care Specialists in treatment interventions and supervise such service in consultation with the Residential Program Department Head.

I. Prepare clinical reports for legal hearings and document any legal activity in Connections.

J. Chair treatment team meetings in conjunction with the Residential Services Department Head.

K. Provide administrative oversight of the cottage’s physical plant and programming to ensure a clinically theraoutic environment.

12. Attend all meetings and training as requested by the Director of Residential Services, Residential Services Department Head, and Human Resources Department.

13. Assist the Director of Residential Services in other delegated functions.

14. Assist the Admissions Department with the intake process.

15. Responsible for adhering to and performing all duties in accordance with every safety standard, practice, and policy of The William George Agency. This includes, but is not limited to, a review of The William George Agency’s Safety Policy and attending all required safety-related training.

16. Adhere to the treatment philosophy of The William George Agency and the rules, requirements, and regulations of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
