Nexus Neurorecovery Center – San Antonio is seeking a Board-Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric leadership and clinical oversight for our specialized adolescent residential treatment program.

This position provides an opportunity to work with adolescents who have complex psychiatric, behavioral, developmental, and medical needs. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist leads the interdisciplinary treatment process, provides evidence-based psychiatric care, and collaborates closely with clinical and operational leadership to promote meaningful, sustainable patient outcomes.

Nexus Neurorecovery Center – San Antonio provides residential behavioral health treatment for adolescent females with complex emotional, behavioral, developmental, and psychiatric needs. Our individualized, trauma-informed approach combines psychiatric care, therapy, nursing, behavioral support, education, and family involvement within a structured and supportive environment.

Position Overview

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist provides psychiatric leadership and oversight for the interdisciplinary treatment team and each patient’s master treatment plan. This position is responsible for ongoing psychiatric assessment, active treatment, medication management, clinical collaboration, and program development.

The psychiatrist also provides supervision and clinical support to psychiatric nurse practitioners caring for patients within the program.

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct psychiatric evaluations and provide ongoing assessment and treatment for adolescents with complex behavioral health needs.

* Develop, monitor, and document individualized psychiatric treatment goals and objectives.

* Provide evidence-based psychopharmacological management and monitor patient response to treatment.

* Oversee the psychiatric components of each patient’s interdisciplinary treatment plan.

* Supervise, support, and appropriately staff patient caseloads managed by psychiatric nurse practitioners.

* Participate in shared phone-based on-call coverage with Nexus Physician Group for psychiatric emergencies involving patients within Nexus Health Systems.

* Provide timely clinical orders, progress notes, attestations, and other required documentation.

* Lead regularly scheduled treatment conferences for patients within the program.

* Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, behavioral health professionals, case managers, rehabilitation specialists, and other clinical team members.

* Partner with the Neurodevelopmental Program Director to maintain program standards and promote effective patient care.

* Review prospective patients and provide clinical recommendations regarding admission appropriateness.

* Participate actively in discharge planning and transitions to the next level of care.

* Meet regularly with guardians, referral sources, and payers to support treatment coordination and positive patient outcomes.

* Provide formal and informal education to staff regarding psychiatric conditions, behavioral health needs, and effective clinical strategies.

* Participate in program-development meetings and recommend improvements supporting treatment quality and fidelity.

* Meet weekly with hospital leadership to review clinical operations and future program development.

* Complete required billing documentation and physician time records accurately and on time.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

* Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited medical school.

* Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship.

Licensure and Certification

* Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas.

* Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

* Current CPR certification when applicable, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

* Ability to maintain all required licenses and certifications in good standing throughout employment.

Experience

* At least two years of direct clinical experience working with children and adolescents is preferred.

* Experience treating adolescents with complex psychiatric, behavioral, developmental, or neurodevelopmental conditions is strongly preferred.

* Previous clinical leadership or advanced practice provider supervisory experience is preferred.

* Experience working within an interdisciplinary treatment environment is highly valued.
