Established in 1984 in Sherman, Texas, our team includes skilled veterinarians, friendly service, and first-class medicine in a welcoming facility. Our veterinarians are members of the Texas Academy of Veterinarians and one a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.

Position Purpose

Experienced Veterinarian | Advanced GP & Complex Medicine | Sherman, TX

Love general practice, but want the opportunity to do more?

Texoma Veterinary Hospital in Sherman, Texas is growing, and we're looking for an experienced veterinarian to join a team that takes general practice medicine well beyond the basics.

Texoma is a well-established, AAHA-accredited small animal hospital with a long-standing reputation in the community and a strong commitment to high-quality medicine. While we are a general practice at heart, our caseload and capabilities provide opportunities to work through complex medical cases that aren't always seen—or managed in-house—in a traditional GP setting.

The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic capabilities, including CT imaging, ultrasound, digital radiography, and an in-house laboratory, allowing our doctors to pursue more comprehensive workups and keep many challenging cases within the practice.

Our Managing Veterinarian, Dr. David Tidwell, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Canine/Feline Practice and has extensive experience managing complex medical cases. The team sees a significant internal medicine caseload in addition to providing comprehensive preventive and primary care, dentistry, soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery, dermatology, reproductive services, and more.

For a veterinarian who enjoys the diagnostic side of medicine, this is an opportunity to dig deeper into cases, utilize advanced imaging and diagnostic technology, collaborate with an experienced medical team, and continue growing clinically—while still enjoying the relationships, continuity of care, and variety that make general practice rewarding.

And importantly, this position is being added because the practice is growing. We're not replacing a departing doctor; we're expanding the team and building additional capacity for an increasing caseload.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a veterinarian who already has some clinical experience under their belt and is comfortable practicing independently.

This position would be especially well suited for someone who enjoys:

  • Challenging and complex medical cases
  • Internal medicine and diagnostics
  • Thoughtful, thorough case management
  • Utilizing advanced tools such as CT and ultrasound
  • Continuing to expand their medical and diagnostic skills
  • Collaborating with an experienced and supportive veterinary team

You don't need to be a specialist. You do need to be curious, engaged in your cases, and excited by the opportunity to practice medicine beyond routine GP.

Why Texoma Veterinary Hospital?

Established in 1984, Texoma Veterinary Hospital combines the personal relationships of a community practice with capabilities more commonly associated with larger or more advanced hospitals.

The hospital is AAHA-accredited, has undergone an expansion and remodel, and offers a broad spectrum of medical, diagnostic, surgical, and reproductive services.

You'll have access to advanced diagnostic tools, including CT and ultrasound, while working alongside a doctor with ABVP certification in Canine/Feline Practice and a team accustomed to managing cases ranging from routine wellness visits to complicated medical workups.

For the experienced GP who has ever thought, “I wish I could do more with these cases before referring them,” this may be exactly the kind of practice you've been looking for.
