Key Position Details
Urology PA Position Highlights
- Full-time position working four 10-hour days per week.
- Position includes occasional weekend rounding per department scheduling.
- 2–3 days per week in clinic and 2–3 days per week in the OR, including hospital rounding and consults.
Practice at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, within the Allina Health Cancer Institute Clinic and/or Abbott Northwestern Surgery Clinic.
Job Description
Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.
- Principle Responsibilities
- Provides clinical care for patients
- Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
- Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
- Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
- Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
- Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
- Refers for specialty care when determined.
- Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
Participates in Health Care Team
- Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
- Acts as resource to members of the team.
- Works with primary care team for program development.
- Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
- Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
Preferred Qualifications
New Graduates may be considered. Minimum 2 years experience in Urology
- Licenses/Certifications
- Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
- BLS required within 180 Days
- Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
- Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire
