Job Description

. This is a contract, on-site position that offers a focused opportunity to deliver high-quality inpatient care within a collaborative and patient-centered clinical environment. As an Associate-level role, it is well suited to a physician who is building momentum in hospital medicine while making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

In this role, you will manage the care of hospitalized adult patients, overseeing admissions, daily rounding, treatment planning, and discharge processes in coordination with a multidisciplinary care team.

You will work alongside nurses, specialists, case managers, and support staff to ensure continuity of care, timely interventions, and positive patient experiences. The position places strong emphasis on clinical judgment, clear communication, and efficient documentation within a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care to adult patients as a Hospitalist physician
  • Perform patient admissions, histories, physical examinations, and initial assessments
  • Conduct daily rounds and monitor patient progress throughout the hospital stay
  • Develop, adjust, and manage individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and imaging studies
  • Coordinate care with specialists, consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals
  • Manage transitions of care, including discharge planning and follow-up recommendations
  • Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and provide appropriate interventions
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough medical documentation in electronic health records
  • Participate in clinical discussions, handoffs, and multidisciplinary care meetings
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Osteopathic Doctor) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board eligibility or board certification in Internal Medicine
  • Associate-level experience in hospital medicine or inpatient clinical care
  • Valid medical license to practice in the state of Tennessee
  • Current DEA registration and BLS/ACLS certification
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems and clinical documentation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site hospital environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in patient management
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based care
  • Preferred: Prior locum tenens or Hospitalist experience in a hospital setting

Schedule: 12-hour shifts

1:10 overnight call rotation

617-bed facility

Closed ICU

Average Daily Census: 250 patients

Average Daily Admits: 38 patients

Duties: Rounding and admits

No procedures required

Support Staff: APPs

Must be board-certified

Paid travel & expenses
