Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: El Paso Childrens Hospital - El Paso, TX, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 2 Year Degree, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Travel Percentage: None, Job Shift: Night, Position Summary Under the direction of the specified shift Respiratory Supervisor, the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for the assessment, treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the pulmonary system.
The RRT provides care to patients of varying ages with age related needs. This is a critical care position and may be assigned to any critical care unit; and must be able to function independently with minimal to no supervision.
The RRT contributes to the provision of quality care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
Qualifications: Minimum Position
Requirements
Work Experience: One (1) year experience in adult, pediatric and neonatal critical care respiratory care procedures preferred. License/Registration/Certification: Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Current Texas Respiratory Care License.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and STABLE certifications required or obtained within 6 months in position. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) by The American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS) certification preferred. Education and Training: Must be a graduate of a Respiratory Therapy education program (associate’s degree) that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
Skills: Must have a comprehensive knowledge of routine and critical procedures with critical thinking skills for both adults, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
Thorough knowledge of Respiratory physiology and ability to practice good judgment in the implementation of clinical interventions indicated by the patient status. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills. Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills.
Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the assessment, treatment, and diagnostic evaluation of patients with pulmonary system deficiencies. They must function independently in critical care units to provide quality care and positive patient outcomes.
Requirements
Candidates must hold an associate's degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program and possess a current Texas Respiratory Care License. Required certifications include BLS, with ACLS, PALS, NRP, and STABLE to be obtained within six months of hire.
