Role: Nurse Practitioner - APRN / FNP / AGNP
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, licensed Nurse Practitioner to join a multidisciplinary outpatient clinical team. In this role, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat adult patients presenting with chronic and acute pain disorders, musculoskeletal conditions, and spine-related pathology. Working in collaboration with board-certified pain management physicians, you will formulate comprehensive care plans emphasizing multimodal, non-opioid, and interventional therapies.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive initial clinical evaluations, medical history reviews, and focused physical and musculoskeletal examinations.
Formulate, implement, and monitor evidence-based treatment plans for chronic pain, spinal conditions, neuropathies, and osteoarthritis.
Perform routine outpatient clinical procedures under established protocols, including trigger point injections, peripheral joint injections, and bursa injections.
Manage medication regimens with a strong commitment to responsible opioid stewardship, utilizing Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP) and regular urine drug screening (UDS).
Order and interpret relevant diagnostic imaging (X-rays, MRI, CT scans) and laboratory investigations to guide treatment interventions.
Provide patient education on chronic pain management, physical rehabilitation, lifestyle modifications, and interventional procedure expectations.
Collaborate closely with physicians, referring providers, physical therapists, and behavioral health specialists.
Maintain complete, accurate, and timely clinical documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in accordance with state and federal billing and compliance standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Nursing (MSN or DNP) from an accredited program.
Licensure
Active, unrestricted Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the State of Rhode Island, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to employment.
Board Certification
National certification (AANP or ANCC) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP).
Certifications
Active Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) and DEA license, or eligibility to obtain prior to start.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Experience
Prior clinical experience in pain management, orthopedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), neurology, or primary care preferred.
Strong new graduates with relevant clinical rotations and demonstrated interest in pain management are encouraged to apply.

Requirements
Candidates must hold a Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing and possess an active, unrestricted APRN license in Rhode Island. National board certification as an FNP or AGNP, along with BLS and ACLS certifications, is required.
