Job description

Part-Time Physical Therapist Assistant | Memory Care | Practice Therapy Where Life Happens
What if being a great PTA meant looking beyond the treatment session?
At Prava, we believe Memory Care therapy is about more than exercises, repetitions, and walking distance.
It's about helping someone continue to move through their world with confidence, safety, and dignity.
We're looking for a Part-Time Physical Therapist Assistant who wants to practice that way.
We don't just work bankers' hours.
Because residents don't live bankers' hours.
Sometimes the most meaningful mobility work happens at dinner.
Walking to an activity.
Practicing a transfer during an actual routine.
Navigating a familiar hallway.
Helping a resident safely participate in something they love.
We go where the function is.
We don't expect the resident to fit the therapy.
We adapt the therapy to the resident.
A resident living with dementia may not be able to explain why something has become difficult.
Maybe the environment is overwhelming.
Maybe the routine has changed.
Maybe the cueing needs to be different.
Maybe the task needs to be simplified.
Maybe we need to change our approach.
As a PTA, you'll work under the direction of the PT to help figure out what works for this person, in this environment, at this moment.
Your role
You'll provide meaningful, function-focused interventions to residents living with dementia.
You'll have opportunities to:
Provide skilled interventions under the direction of the PT
Address gait, balance, transfers, strength, endurance, and functional mobility
Practice mobility in the environments where residents actually live
Incorporate real-world routines and meaningful activities into treatment
Use appropriate cueing and repetition to support carryover
Identify environmental barriers that affect mobility and safety
Partner with caregivers and community staff
Help residents maintain mobility, participation, and independence
Build relationships with residents and learn the person behind the diagnosis
We believe Memory Care therapy starts with the person.
Not the diagnosis.
Not the behavior.
Not the impairment.
The person.
What matters to them?
What routines are familiar?
Where do they feel successful?
What helps them feel safe?
What can we change?
Those questions should influence how we deliver therapy.
We're looking for a PTA who:
Loves working with older adults living with dementia
Believes mobility is about participation—not simply distance
Is patient, observant, creative, and adaptable
Understands the importance of environment and routine
Builds relationships naturally
Is comfortable collaborating with PTs, caregivers, and community teams
Wants to practice clinically rather than simply follow a formula
Doesn't believe every therapy session needs to happen in a therapy room
If you've ever thought, “There has to be a better way to do therapy in Memory Care,” you'll probably like Prava.
Because we don't just want to help someone walk farther.
We want to help them keep moving through the life they know.
And sometimes the most important therapy of the day happens after 5 p. m.
Come practice PT where life happens.
Come practice Prava.
