Overview: Under the direction of the Executive Director and the Associate/Assistant Director, the Registered Dietitian Consultant is responsible for patient care in nutrition assessment/counseling of clients, coordinating Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) workshops, and supervising students in the Dietetic Internship program as they provide nutritional counseling and implement wellness clinic programs and workshops.

Duties and Responsibilities (Other Duties as Assigned)

Responsible for nutrition risk screening, patient assessments/counseling, education/instructions, community projects, and related duties as assigned.

Coordination of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) workshops and supervision of students in the Dietetic Internship program as they provide nutritional counseling and implement various programs and workshops to build the MMC Wellness Clinic client base.

Help create linkages with community/partnering agencies and organizations by collaboration and communication to expand the MMC Wellness Clinic projects/programs; schedule and implement project/program-related logistical meetings; maintain relationships with community partners; develop sustainability plan to ensure viability of projects/programs. Travel to and from community sites.

Supervision of dietetic interns once a solid client base is established; schedule weekly meetings with interns to review notes and monitor patient progress.

Write reports and communication materials; organize and maintain patient/project files in shared drive. Create and maintain comprehensive project/program documentation, plans and reports.

Create and maintain policy and procedures for ensuring the academic quality and integrity of projects/programs.

Oversee data collection procedures for formative research, pre-assessments and post-assessments.

Responsible for purchasing and/or creating educational and promotional materials and supplies.

Perform tasks and other duties as assigned by Executive Director and Associate/Assistant Director.

Qualifications

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist required. Master’s degree in Nutrition or Public Health (or equivalent) strongly preferred. Between 1-2 years minimum experience in clinical setting and patient care with nutrition assessment and counseling of clients strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and online assessment and documentation. Some project coordination and implementation of patient care and group education within diverse communities and clients preferred.

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty. Ability and specialized skills to: interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures; perform basic research and statistical analysis; compile, write and present reports related to program or administrative specialty as needed; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; organize, coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks; work in a busy environment; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, faculty, and external contacts.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

The anticipated hiring range: $25.00 – 35.00 per hour

Time Base: Part - Time
