Responsibilities

*Independent Contractor Role*

*To provide 1 to 2-1/2 days a month support at our Park Central and Gilbert locations.*

When you join RadNet as a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be joining a dedicated team of professionals who deliver quality, value, and access in the 21st century and align all stakeholders- patients, providers, payors, and regulators to achieve the best clinical outcomes.

You Will

Review referrals, clinical history, prior swallow evaluations, and imaging orders to confirm appropriateness of VFSS/MBSS and identify contraindications or special positioning needs.

Educate patients and caregivers on the purpose of the study, contrast use, radiation considerations, and what to expect during the examination.

Prepare barium-impregnated food and liquid trials consistent with IDDSI framework and facility protocol.

Conduct VFSS/MBSS in the fluoroscopy suite with the radiologic technologist and, as required by protocol or payer rules, the interpreting radiologist.

Direct bolus presentation, consistencies, volumes, and compensatory strategy trials (e. g., chin tuck, head turn, effortful swallow, thickened liquids) based on real-time swallow physiology.

Assess oral, pharyngeal, and upper esophageal phases; identify penetration, aspiration, residue, timing deficits, and structural or functional abnormalities relevant to swallow safety and efficiency.

Minimize fluoroscopy time while obtaining diagnostically adequate lateral and AP views, following ALARA principles and wearing required radiation protection and dosimetry.

Interpret recorded studies using an evidence-based framework and distinguish swallow physiology findings from medical diagnoses reserved for the physician.

  • To Ensure Success in This Role, You Must Have:
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited program
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
  • Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Demonstrated competency performing and interpreting VFSS/MBSS in adult patients
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience in outpatient imaging, hospital radiology, or a dedicated swallow-diagnostics program
  • Ability to work in a fluoroscopy suite, wear lead protective equipment, and stand for extended periods.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders and possess a current CCC-SLP certification. Additionally, they must have active state licensure, BLS certification, and demonstrated competency in performing VFSS/MBSS procedures.
