Pediatric Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Position Summary

Anderson Hills Pediatrics is seeking an experienced Pediatric Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA) to join our integrated pediatric practice and help expand access to high-quality behavioral health care for children, adolescents, and young adults.

This is an opportunity for an experienced psychiatric provider who enjoys working closely with pediatricians, families, therapists, schools, and other members of a multidisciplinary care team.

Our ideal candidate has at least five years of meaningful clinical psychiatry experience, with substantial experience evaluating and treating children and adolescents. The provider should be comfortable with psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, evidence-based psychopharmacology, controlled-substance prescribing, and longitudinal medication management.

We particularly value a provider who is confident managing patients with more complex psychiatric needs, including antipsychotic medication management when clinically indicated.

We are open to full-time and part-time arrangements and are willing to consider creative clinical roles that remain within the provider's defined scope of practice. Candidates with dual training or certification such as PMHNP/FNP are especially encouraged to apply.

What You Will Do

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for pediatric and adolescent patients
• Diagnose and manage psychiatric, behavioral, developmental, and emotional conditions
• Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based psychiatric and behavioral health practices
• Provide longitudinal psychiatric medication management
• Prescribe, initiate, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications, including controlled substances and, when clinically appropriate, antipsychotic medications
• Evaluate and treat ADHD, including stimulant and non-stimulant medication management
• Manage common pediatric psychiatric conditions including anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, mood disorders, behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and other psychiatric conditions
• Monitor treatment response, side effects, laboratory results, screening instruments, and other relevant clinical information
• Provide brief therapeutic interventions, supportive counseling, psychoeducation, and medication education as appropriate to your scope and training
• Partner with parents and caregivers in developing and monitoring treatment plans
• Collaborate closely with pediatricians, therapists, nursing staff, schools, specialists, community providers, and other members of the care team
• Coordinate care for children and adolescents with complex medical and behavioral health needs
• Participate in interdisciplinary case consultation, quality improvement, and clinical program development
• Maintain timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation in the electronic health record
• Practice in accordance with applicable federal and Ohio laws, professional standards, and organizational policies

• 5+ years of clinical psychiatric experience
• Meaningful experience treating children and adolescents
• Strong experience with psychiatric medication management and psychopharmacology
• Demonstrated comfort prescribing and managing controlled substances
• Experience prescribing and managing antipsychotic medications
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
• Experience managing ADHD and other common pediatric psychiatric conditions
• The ability to recognize when a patient's needs require consultation, referral, or a higher level of behavioral health care
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with children, adolescents, parents, and caregivers
• A collaborative approach to working alongside pediatricians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals
• The ability to work independently while appropriately seeking consultation and collaborating with the broader care team
• Commitment to evidence-based, family-centered care

Minimum Qualifications

For PMHNP Candidates

• Current, unrestricted Ohio APRN license
• Current national board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Across the Lifespan (PMHNP-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
• Current DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances in Ohio
• Minimum five years of clinical psychiatric experience
• Demonstrated experience treating pediatric and adolescent patients

Preferred qualifications: Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist (PMHS) certification and/or additional national certification as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner–Primary Care (CPNP-PC) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC/FNP-C). These supplemental credentials are valued but do not replace required PMHNP-BC certification or expand the provider’s legal scope of practice.

For PA Candidates

• Current, unrestricted Ohio Physician Assistant license
• Current NCCPA certification
• Current DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances in Ohio
• Minimum five years of clinical psychiatric experience
• Demonstrated experience treating pediatric and adolescent patients

For All Candidates

• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation
• Commitment to patient confidentiality, professional ethics, and applicable regulatory requirements

Compensation

Full-time compensation range: $130,000 to $175,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibilities.

Part-time compensation will be determined based on schedule, clinical responsibilities, experience, and qualifications, paid at a comparable rate to full-time workers.
